recommended run: white rock lake, dallas, texas

_ white rock lake is our recommended run in dallas.

_ 9.1 miles around the circumference of the lake. we're glad we started early, because by the time we got done the temperature was sneaking up on 90 degrees.

_ but running along the water, there's ample shade from the dallas sun.

_ docks are built in a t-shape, for texas, of course.

_ though only a few miles from downtown dallas, when you turn inland it's almost country.

On this early morning, fishermen were already setting up in the shallows.

_ bikers outnumbered runners 10 to 1, which made us feel just that much more adventurous.

_ we crossed the dam in the north west corner...

_ ...and passed the nature reserve.

_ trees full of what they call 'bagworms' lined the path.

_ we met heather at the end, she was just as exhausted as us. she's used to running by lake tahoe, where she's from. she'd been teaching for the last few years, and had just moved to dallas to go back to school.
