_ on the way to the grand canyon from vegas, we passed over the hoover dam. it's not possible to not stop, so we got out and wandered around with our cameras out.
_ it is an impressive thing though, a marvel of engineering.
_ everyone stood slightly dumbstruck. when it comes down to it, though, it is just a dam by the side of the road. most visitors seem to be there only to stretch their legs and get some air, but then they're confronted with this feat of human thought and creation. electrical pylons link up over the hillside on the drive up, wires arcing in increasing threads.
